Discover the Art of Seabird Photography Book

Discover The Art of Seabird Photography

I wrote this book because I wanted it to exist. When I was finding my feet as a seabird photographer, I was piecing together knowledge from dozens of different places — trial and error on clifftops, conversations with other photographers, hours of reading. I wanted to bring all of that together in one place, written honestly and from the heart, by someone who genuinely loves these birds.

The result is Discover The Art of Seabird Photography — 288 pages of everything I know about photographing seabirds, from the practical to the personal.

What's inside

This isn't a dry technical manual. It's a proper guide written by someone who has stood in hail at Staple Newk for six hours waiting for the light to change, who has missed shots and learned from them, and who wants you to have the best possible experience every time you head out with your camera.

Inside you'll find:

Camera settings and technical guidance written in plain, straightforward language. Understanding seabird behaviour and how to use it to anticipate the shot. Finding and working with light in coastal environments. Composition and how to move beyond the record shot. Editing and processing your images. The locations I love and what to expect when you get there. The story of how seabird photography changed my life — and why I think it might change yours too.

The details

288 pages, beautifully produced and full of images from the cliffs, the colonies, and the open sea. Price: £29.99

What readers are saying

"It's the handbook I've been after since starting up photography again"

" Your book is also the most in depth, easy to understand book I've ever read"

"This is a cracking book. The way you have presented it is perfect. It's sensibly laid out and your photographs are some of the best I have seen in a long time. For any photographers out there this is the number one book to get."

A note from me

Writing this book was one of the hardest and most rewarding things I've ever done. It went through more drafts than I care to admit, kept me up late more nights than I can count, and I'm so proud of how it turned out. If you love seabirds, or you want to, I hope it finds its way onto your bookshelf.
